Campus construction update

SPORTS & FITNESS CENTER

The main entrance to du Pont Gymnasium and the Rockwell Cage--behind the Stratton Student Center--has been closed while the du Pont lobby is being renovated and a connection built between du Pont and the Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center.

The du Pont lobby can no longer be used as a throughway from Vassar Street. Du Pont can be accessed only through two entrances on Vassar Street. The main entrance is through the short alley between Rockwell Cage and du Pont; the other is near the corner of Massachusetts Avenue. (This door is marked "Entrance to W31 and W33." Once inside, an MIT ID card is required to enter du Pont.)

STATA CENTER

Beginning next week, the chilled-water excavation and installation near the Stata project will be extended through the end of June. Excavation near the Beacon Skanska trailer will be expanded toward Buildings 66 and 68 in order to connect chilled-water lines to Building 68. Pedestrian traffic and truck deliveries will be re-routed.

SIMMONS HALL

Installation of life safety equipment, including fire detection systems, is under way. Installation of windows continues.
