Five recognized with physics awards

The Joel Matthew Orloff Award for outstanding scholarship in physics was presented to Abhinav Kumar , a senior in physics, mathematics, and computer science and engineering from Jameshedpu Bihar, India, and Stefan B. Gromell , a senior in physics from Setauket, N.Y.

The Joel Matthew Orloff Award for outstanding service to the physics community was presented to physics senior Teresa A. Fazio of Silver Spring, Md.

The Malcolm Cotton Brown Award for a senior of high academic standing in physics who plans to pursue graduate study in experimental physics was presented to Joshua M. Thompson , a senior in physics from Cheverly, Md.

The Alan H. Barrett Prize for Excellence in Astrophysics at MIT was presented to Joshua M. Lapan , a senior in physics and mathematics from Ames, Iowa.
