CAMBRIDGE, Mass -- Chemicals and society is the focus of a conference at MIT June 11-12. The event will include panels on the history of public concerns about chemicals and on the effectiveness of the chemical industry's efforts to improve its environmental performance and image.
Papers will be presented on the general themes of each panel. In addition, representatives from industry, the US Environmental Protection Agency, and other stakeholders will respond to questions associated with the panels.
Afternoon workshops will explore issues such as how much and what kind of chemical testing needs to be done, and the potential for cooperative regulatory approaches.
