Professor Anne White of the Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering (NSE) has been awarded the 2014 Junior Bose Award for Excellence in Teaching.
This award is given annually to an outstanding contributor to education from among the junior faculty of the School of Engineering. White, the Norman C. Rasmussen Assistant Professor of Nuclear Science and Engineering, is an expert in plasma physics and controlled fusion. Her research is concerned with the fundamental physics of turbulence in tokamak fusion plasmas.
White's students describe her as an engaging, enthusiastic, and committed teacher and mentor. One NSE senior commented, “Professor White has an exceptional ability to make complex engineering material both engaging and extremely understandable.”
NSE Department Head Richard Lester added, “Professor White is one of several young NSE faculty whose energy and commitment to achieving excellence in the classroom are helping to transform our curriculum. White is the second NSE faculty member to earn the prestigious Junior Bose Award in recent years. Professor Jacopo Buongiorno received the award in 2007.
