Wiki archiving process under way

As part of an effort to improve the performance and usability of the MIT Wiki Service, IS&T will begin an annual archiving of wiki spaces starting this summer.
The MIT Wiki Service, which provides MIT groups and organizations with collaborative web spaces, has grown to approximately 2,600 sites since its launch in 2006.

As part of an effort to improve the performance and usability of this service, Information Services & Technology (IS&T) will begin an annual archiving of wiki spaces starting this summer.

In mid-July 2012, wiki spaces that have not been viewed for more than one year will be removed from the production server and copied to an archive server, where they will remain for an additional year. Archived wiki sites can be restored to production — upon user request — until July 2013, after which they will be permanently removed. Find more information regarding the wiki archiving process and a list of wiki sites identified for archiving in the Wiki Archiving Space.

IS&T will continue communications with wiki users by sending reminders and scheduled milestones throughout the archival process. In the meantime, if you have questions, please contact the Wiki Support Team.
