Increased security measures in place

Chancellor Phillip Clay sent the following email message to the MIT community on September 10:

To Members of the MIT Community:

As many of you have heard, this afternoon the administration in Washington raised the level of the terrorist alert warning. See http://www.whitehouse.gov

This is to let you know that while there is no specific threat against the United States, MIT has taken appropriate measures to increase campus security and you should feel free to go about your regular business.

On Wednesday, there will be a number of 9/11 commemorative activities, and we hope that you can take part in one or more of these activities, including the all-community gathering at 5:00 pm. (See the MIT homepage for details.)
