Lt. Gen. Robert Flowers, commanding general and chief of engineers of the Army Corps of Engineers, will speak at MIT on Thursday, Feb. 21 about the Corps' response to the Sept. 11 attacks. His talk, titled "Engineering Leadership," will start at 4 p.m. in Room 3-270.
In the James A. Henderson Memorial Lecture sponsored by the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Gen. Flowers will discuss his leadership experiences during times of crisis and how they have shaped his call for the engineering community to take on a reinvigorated role in public life. He will also touch on the five mission areas of the Corps: water resources development, the environment, infrastructure, disasters and war-fighting support. The talk is free and open to the public.
