Applications for the annual Marvin E. Goody Prize, a $5,000 award for a graduate thesis that advances the building arts, are available in the Department of Architecture headquarters in Rm 7-337.
Joan E. Goody of Goody, Clancy & Associates in Boston established the prize with a major gift in 1983 as a memorial to her husband, Marvin E. Goody, an MIT alumnus and faculty member.
The award is given to a graduate student preparing a master's thesis to be completed no later than September 1997. It aims to extend building techniques and use of materials, encourage links between the academic world and the building industry, and to increase appreciation of the bond between good design and good building-criteria intended to reflect the range of Professor Goody's interests as a teacher, researcher and designer.
Forms and further information are available in Rm 7-337. The deadline for applications is 5pm on Friday, Jan. 17; the winner will be announced on January 31.
