The National Academy of Sciences recently inaugurated an international lecture series on global science and technology issues--named the Rosenblith series in honor of Dr. Walter A. Rosenblith, Institute Professor Emeritus, former MIT Provost and the Academy's former foreign secretary.
The biennial series will be presented alternately by distinguished US and foreign scientists chosen to reflect Dr. Rosenblith's international concerns. The lectures were endowed by the friends and family of Dr. Rosenblith to recognize his many contributions to international scientific cooperation.
The inaugural lecture, Science and Climate Convention," was given by Jose Goldemberg, distinguished professor at the University of Sao Paulo, former Minister of Education of Brazil and world leader in environmental affairs and education. It was delivered once at the National Academy of Sciences in Washington, DC, and again at the Academy's Arnold and Mabel Beckman Center in Irvine, CA.
