Memorial service for Sir William Hawthorne

At 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, at the MIT Chapel, the Institute will hold a memorial service for Sir William Hawthorne, a former professor of mechanical engineering and member of the MIT Corporation who died in September 2011 at age 98.

The Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics is hosting the memorial service for Hawthorne, a former Master of Churchill College, Honorary Fellow of Trinity College, head of the Department of Engineering at Cambridge University, former MIT George Westinghouse Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Jerome Hunsaker Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and Visiting Institute Professor.
