The IDEAS Competition and MIT Global Challenge are an annual invention and entrepreneurship competition that support projects addressing the needs of underserved communities in many areas — such as water, sanitation, education, health, entrepreneurship, disaster relief and much more.
The MIT Global Challenge just launched as a key part of MIT150 and in partnership with the Alumni Association. This year, there are $150,000 in awards (up to $25,000 per team) to help make the projects that demonstrate the greatest innovation, feasibility and potential for impact reality.
Students are called to take their work from the labs and the classrooms and apply them to real-world challenges. Alumni are invited to sign up and support student-led teams through mentorship, collaboration, and volunteering. Faculty and staff are encouraged to share their research to support student-led teams, and encourage exploration and ideation on what solutions can be developed.
