MIT Police Honor Guard attends Virginia Tech ceremony

Four MIT officers among thousands who traveled from colleges and universities nationwide.

Representatives of the MIT Police Honor Guard were among thousands who gathered at Virginia Tech on Monday, Dec. 12, for services honoring fallen campus police officer Deriek Crouse.

Crouse was killed in the line of duty on Dec. 8 during a traffic stop on the Virginia Tech campus.

Members of the MIT Honor Guard present at the services were Patrol Officer Bill Smith, Patrol Officer Katrina Thompson, Patrol Officer Kevin O'Connor and Patrol Officer David Smith.

Campus police officers from colleges and universities throughout the United States traveled to Virginia Tech for the event. A memorial fund has been established to support the needs of the family of Deriek Crouse.
