It's time to getfit@mit

A new decade has dawned — and perhaps with it, a new you? If getting more exercise was on your New Year’s to-do list, register for getfit@mit, the annual fitness challenge that’s open to the entire MIT community.

Online registration for the 12-week challenge opens on Monday, Jan. 10, at http://getfit.mit.edu and closes on Jan. 27. During getfit@mit, which begins on Jan. 31, teams work toward steadily increasing weekly exercise goals, starting with 150 total minutes in the first week. To register, you must be a member of a team of five to eight people with two co-captains. The co-captains must have e-mail addresses that end in mit.edu, draper.com or broadinstitute.org.

At the 2011 getfit@mit kickoff event from noon-1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 20, in Lobby 10, staff will be on hand to answer questions about registering, finding fitness options on and off campus, and staying in shape this winter. Visitors can enjoy refreshments, check out their fitness levels with some simple screening tests, and enter to win door prizes. The event is free and open to all members of the MIT community.
