IS&T is on the move!

The IS&T Help Desk and other customer-facing computing services are relocating to Kendall Square.

The IS&T Help Desk and other customer-facing services from Building N42 are relocating to Kendall Square. The new spaces in Buildings E17 and E19 have been fully renovated to provide optimal customer service. They are closer to the regular walking routes of MIT staff and students and accessible in bad weather through the MIT tunnels.

Services in N42 will close for business at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 3, and reopen at 9 a.m. on Monday, June 6, in the E17 and E19 locations.

The IS&T Help Desk

The Help Desk will set up shop on the first floor of E17 (40 Ames St.). Facilities will include the Walk-in Center, Computer Showroom and Demo Center. An all-new Learning Center — for use by IS&T and others — will be equipped with audiovisual equipment, IPTV and Cisco Telepresence video-conferencing technology.

Help Desk offerings will remain the same. Business hours for the Walk-in Center in E17 are Monday through Friday, 9:15 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Walk-in services include
  • Computer needs analysis and buying advice;
  • Technical troubleshooting;
  • Diagnosis and repair for Institute and personally owned computer;
  • Software upgrades;
  • Disaster recovery and assessment;
  • Troubleshooting of network configuration and wireless connectivity problems
Other Help Desk services relocating to the first floor of E17 include
  • User Accounts;
  • Student Loaner Laptop Distribution
The Call Center will be moving to the sixth floor of E19. For more information on Help Desk services, including contact information, see IS&T’s Support webpage.

Related IS&T services for MIT customers

Other customer-facing IS&T services in N42 will also be relocating to Kendall Square. The Faculty and Student Experience Group will be situated near the Help Desk in E17. Accessibility and Usability Services, including the Usability Lab, will move to the seventh floor of Building E19. Note that the Adaptive Technology Information Center will remain in its current location, Building 7-143.

All geared up

IS&T staff look forward to welcoming faculty, staff and students to their new home in Kendall Square. The relocation opens up fresh opportunities for IS&T to engage with customers across MIT.
