The design for the recently launched MIT Global Challenge website won a silver 2011 International Design Excellence Award (IDEA) in the category of Best Interactive Product Experience. The MIT Public Service Center worked with Idea Couture, a multidisciplinary design team from Toronto, to develop a platform that engages alumni, faculty, staff, students and collaborators to develop solutions to community challenges such as agriculture, education, water and health. In the competition's first year, more than 86 student-led teams put forth innovative approaches to tackling barriers to well-being around the world. More than 14,000 people in 117 countries cast their votes in the Community Choice Vote, one of the many features of the MIT Global Challenge online platform.
