Undersecretary for Science Koonin to speak at MIT

Dr. Steven E. Koonin, the undersecretary for science in the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), will speak on "Energy Innovation at Scale" at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 22, in Room 32-123.

Koonin, who has worked in industry and as a university professor and administrator at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), will deliver the Hoyt C. Hottel Lecture in Chemical Engineering.

Dr. Koonin was a member and past chair of the JASON Study Group, advising the U.S. Government on technical matters of national security. He has served on numerous advisory committees for the Department of Energy, the National Science Foundation, and the Department of Defense.
