If you received that unwanted MIT parking ticket this year, you can get away without paying the fine — if you’re willing to buy a toy instead.
The MIT Parking and Transportation Office is once again sponsoring a “Toys for Tickets” program that lets ticket recipients donate a new, unopened toy instead of paying the damages.
To participate, bring in the parking ticket along with the toy receipt to the parking office (in the basement of the Student Center, W20-022) before Friday, Dec. 11. The value of the toy or game must be of equal or greater value than the parking violation.
For those just wishing to donate to those in need, MIT will also collect new, nonviolent-themed, unwrapped toys and new warm clothing. Toys and clothing can be dropped off at MIT Medical, E23-205, Center for Health Promotion and Wellness, or the MIT Police Station at W89, 301 Vassar St. All gifts will be distributed to needy families who live in the neighborhoods abutting the MIT campus.
