Dedric Carter named assistant dean of engineering

School of Engineering Dean Subra Suresh has named Dedric Carter (S.B. 1998 in EECS, M.Eng. 1999 in EECS) the school's new assistant dean for development and strategic initiatives.

After graduating from MIT in 1999, Carter worked as a consultant in the information technology industry and was a member of the MIT Corporation from 2000 to 2005. Since April 2006, Carter has served as executive director of the Office of Engineering Outreach Programs that oversees Minority Introduction to Engineering and Science, the Science Technology Engineering and Math Program, the Saturday Engineering Enrichment and Discovery Academy and the MIT Science of Baseball Program, launched last summer.

In addition to having two degrees from MIT, Carter received a Ph.D. in information systems from Nova Southeastern University in 2005.
