Alumni Association announces changes

The MIT Alumni Association has announced an organizational change that will augment the service it provides to alumni around the world.

Effective Oct. 1, Elizabeth Garvin will become the managing director of the MIT Alumni Association, making her the principal deputy to William J. Hecht (S.B. 1961), the executive vice president and CEO of the association. Garvin, who has worked in the Alumni Association for more than 13 years, has served as director of the Alumni Fund and Class Programs for several years. She will continue in the position of director of the MIT Alumni Fund.

The association has also announced that Monica Ellis (SB 1991) will replace Garvin as director of class programs, and Amy Schrom is now director of fund appeals, marketing and donor relations.

"In the past several years, we've come a long way in being a collaborative organization. Beth and I expect that the Alumni Association staff will continue to work in even stronger partnerships with one another under her leadership," Hecht said of the organizational changes.

The MIT Alumni Association was founded in 1875. There are more than 110,000 living alumni of MIT, including more than 57,800 undergraduate alumni and 52,600 graduate alumni. Its web site is here.
