Still basking in the glow of their performance at the Lincoln Memorial last month (above, with the reflecting pool and Washington monument in the background), the MIT Concert Band will conclude its 52nd season with performances today (May 3) at 6pm in Lobby 7 and on Friday, May 5 at 7pm at Boston's Hatch Memorial Shell on the Esplanade. The alumni-directed concerts will include music by Vaughan Williams, Grainger and Hindemith, as well as the suite from The Social Beaver, a piece written 30 years ago by Andrew Kazdin (SB 1963). The piece was inspired by a 1956 film produced by MIT to inform prospective students of the activities, sports, hobbies and social life available at the Institute.
