Artists Behind the Desk presents staff member/dancer in 'Poetry & Motion'

"Poetry & Motion," a program of poetry written by 19-year-old Somerville resident Sarah Tyler blended with improvisational movement by dancers including MIT staff member Kelley Donovan will be presented on Wednesday, April 19 at noon in Killian Hall.

When not dancing and directing her company, Ms. Donovan is an administrative assistant in the Department of Economics. She has choreographed works in the Boston area since 1990 and studied choreography with Mark Morris, Bessie Schnberg and Deborah Jowitt. The Boston Herald has called her work "muscular yet lyrical" and InSite magazine called her a "powerful performer with a command of the stage and the audience that was sometimes profound."

The Artists Behind the Desk series, sponsored by the MIT Working Group on Support Staff Issues, highlights the creativity of members of MIT's support staff. Support and administrative staff artists of all kinds -- visual artists, crafters, musicians, singers, dancers, actors, jugglers, mimes, comics, poets, writers, designers -- can still sign on to perform in the Millennial Series which runs through December 2000. Contact Judy Leonard at jahawk@mit.edu or x8-5559 for more information.
