Community Giving campaign update

The Community Giving clothing and nonperishable fund drive continues through December 17. Items collected will be given to three local shelters, which are most in need of clean winter clothing in adult sizes. Please label bags as men's or women's clothing so donations can be given to appropriate shelters.

Laundry detergent, personal-care items, and canned and boxed foods are also needed.

To find the location of the nearest drop box, check the campaign web site.

As of December 7, MIT's Community Giving campaign stood at $196,180 pledged by 730 donors, including 53 Leadership Givers who have pledged at least $1,000 apiece. The Institute hopes to raise $340,000 during the campaign, which runs until December 30.

Contributions from the MIT community will go to the United Way of Massachusetts Bay, MIT's Community Service Fund (CSF), and to other social services agencies, including the Aaron Fund, designated by individual donors. MIT employees may allocate their donations in any way they wish.
