Experts at the second Latin American Conference at MIT, "Building Our Future," will discuss the four keys for Latin America's future on Saturday, Nov. 14 from 8am-5pm in the Tang Center (Buliding E51).
Organized by MIT Club Latino and MIT-Sloan Club Latino, the conference will bring together business, political, education and technology leaders to discuss the challenges and opportunities that Latin America faces as it enters the 21st century. Speakers will discuss business and finance, policy and participatory decision-making processes, infrastructure, and human capital.
Provost Robert A. Brown and Cambridge Mayor Francis H. Duehay will deliver opening remarks. Among the scheduled speakers are Horacio Rodriguez Larreta, Argentina's undersecretary for social policy; Peruvian economist Hernando de Soto; Elena Granell de Aldaz, an expert in human capital from Venezuela; and several CEOs including Bernardo Minkow of McKinsey (Mexico) and Violy McCausland of Violy, Byroum and Partners (Colombia). The conference will be broadcasted to 15 countries in the Caribbean, Central and South American regions via satellite.
