Cunningham appointed to Center for Real Estate post

Marion O. Cunningham (MCP 1982) is returning to MIT as associate director of the Center for Real Estate (CRE), where she will be responsible for the operations of the Center, career services for current students and liaison with graduates.

Prior to joining the Center in mid-November, she had a 10-year career with the Bank of New York, where she started in construction lending in 1988. Most recently she developed a team to build a commercial real estate loan portfolio in New York's outer boroughs. Earlier, she was an assistant project director for the Rouse Co. in Columbia, MD.

"The Center really needs someone to be alert to situations that we should be involved in and to advocate strongly for them," said CRE Director Bill Wheaton. "And Marion's strong real estate background will be a good resource for the Center and particularly for students as they reenter the job market."

The Center's former associate director, Kathleen MacNeil, returned to the booming Boston construction scene in September with her previous employer, MDA Associates, to manage the development of a mixed-use project at 10 St. James Place.

Ms. Cunningham earned the BA at Cornell and the MBA in real estate and finance at the Wharton School. (When she was an undergraduate at MIT, the Center for Real Estate was still two years from admitting its first master's-degree class, she noted.)
