Basking with the Basque

Since receiving a Fulbright fellowship in 1990, photographer Ann Rearick has traveled at least twice a year to live and work in the Basque region of southwest France. Basque Heartland, an exhibition of recent black-and-white photographs, will open at the Dean's Gallery with a reception on Thursday, June 19 from 4:30-6pm.

"As the world continues inevitably to open," said Ms. Rearick, "the Basque offer values which are urgently needed--values such as a spiritual connection, community, generosity, respect for tradition and an acceptance of aging and death as integral parts of the cycle of life."

The show will run through August 28. The Dean's Gallery is located in the Sloan School of Management (Rm E52-466), and hours are weekdays 9-5pm. For more information, call x3-9455 or see the Web site at <http://web.mit.edu/deans-gallery/www/>.
