As of Monday, Jan. 8, MIT's United Way campaign has raised $210,337 in contributions and pledges from 989 donors, including 39 Leadership Givers who contributed at least $1,000 each. This puts the campaign at 65 percent of its $322,000 goal.
Elizabeth Mulcahy, MIT employee campaign manager, last week announced that the MIT campaign would be extended to January 19 from the original end date of December 29. "We want to be sure that as many people as possible are a part of our campaign. Perhaps with a last-minute push we can reach our goal," she said.
The 1995-96 campaign is offering more raffle prizes than last year's. Everyone who makes a donation or pledge is automatically entered for the drawing that will be held after the drive ends. Prizes include two $300 travel vouchers on American Airlines, accommodations for two (Friday night only) at the Cambridge Center Marriott Hotel, accommodations for two at the Inn At Harvard, a lunch/dinner gift certificate for the Boston Sail Loft, dinner for two at Davio's Italian Restaurant at the Royal Sonesta Hotel, Cambridge, a limited-edition poster of the Boston Celtics, and two Entertainment Books (value $30 each) containing discount coupons for restaurants, travel, hotels, entertainment and various services. All those whose pledges are received in the Office of Special Community Services (OSCS) by 3pm on Friday, Jan. 19, will be entered in the raffle.
In addition to the raffle prizes, there are two other prizes for which there will be a separate drawing this month: a pair of tickets to a Huntington Theater production, and two tickets to a Boston Ballet performance.
