Lewis named to post in real estate office

Dr. Allan Bufferd, deputy treasurer and director of investments, announced the appointment of Peter A. Lewis as associate director of real estate.

Mr. Lewis will report to Philip A. Trussell, director of real estate and associate treasurer. He began his career as an architect with Skidmore Owings and Merrill in their Chicago and New York offices and later became a real estate loan officer for National Bank of North America (now part of Fleet Bank) in New York. He has worked for Helmsley-Spear, Inc. on the development of several hotels in Manhattan, and for Urban Investment and Development Co. as a development manager for Boston's Copley Place. Mr. Lewis has also advised several local and national firms relating to their property portfolios.

In his new position, Mr. Lewis will focus on the Institute's investment real estate in Cambridge with particular attention to the continued development of University Park at MIT. He has been an organizer of community groups and a past member of the Economic Development Commission in Newton.

He holds the BA from the Illinois Institute of Technology, a master's degree in architecture from Harvard, and the MBA in finance from New York University.
