Members of new councils listed

Following are the memberships of the four MIT Councils on the Environment, Educational Technology, International Relationships, and Industrial Relationships.

The Council on the Environment is a reorganized version of the Provost's Council on the Global Environment that was created by former Provost Mark S. Wrighton in 1991. The council is chaired by Provost Joel Moses with Professor David H. Marks, director of the Program in Environmental Engineering Education and Research, as co-chair. Much of the work of this council will be done through an executive committee chaired by Dr. Marks.

Members are Lawrence S. Bacow, chair of the faculty; Rafael L. Bras, head of civil and environmental engineering; Sallie (Penny) Chisholm, civil and environmental engineering; Joel P. Clark, materials science and engineering; Nazli Choucri, associate director of the Technology and Development Program; John R. Ehrenfeld, Center for Technology Policy and Industrial Development; A. Denny Ellerman, Sloan School of Management; Harry F. Hemond, director of the Parsons Laboratory; Henry D. Jacoby, Sloan School; Thomas H. Jordan, head of earth, atmospheric and planetary science; J. David Litster, vice president for research and dean for graduate education; Gregory J. McRae, chemical engineering; Stephen M. Meyer, political science.

The Council on Educational Technology is chaired by Dean William J. Mitchell of the School of Architecture and Planning, with Professor Michael L. Dertouzos, director of the Laboratory for Computer Science, as co-chair.

Members are Harold Abelson, electrical engineering and computer science; John W. Belcher, physics; Timothy J. Berners-Lee, Laboratory for Computer Science; Peter Child, music and theater arts; Peter S. Donaldson, section head of literature; Julie Dorsey, architecture; Anne L. Drazen, director of Information Systems, Sloan School; Gregory A. Jackson, director of Academic Computing; Richard Larson, director of the Center for Advanced Educational Services; Steven R. Lerman, director of the Center for Educational Computing Initiatives; Nicholas Negroponte, director of the Media Laboratory; Alex Pentland, media arts and sciences; Bruce Tidor, chemistry; Rosalind Williams, dean of undergraduate education and student affairs; John S. Wilson, director of foundation relations and school development services; and Ann J. Wolpert, director of libraries.

The Council on International Relationships is chaired by Associate Provost Phillip L. Clay and co-chaired by Professors Suzanne Berger, head of the Department of Political Science, and Fred Moavenzadeh, director of the Technology and Development Program, the Center for Construction Research and Education and the Henry L. Pierce Laboratory.

Members are Alice Amsden, urban studies and planning; Joel P. Clark, materials science and engineering; Daniel E. Hastings, aeronautics and astronautics; Karl Koster, director of corporate development; Donald R. Lessard, Sloan School; Gregory J. The Council on Industrial Relationships is chaired by Dean Glen L. Urban of the Sloan School and co-chaired by Professor Daniel Roos, director of the Center for Technology, Policy, and Industrial Development.

Members are Charles L. Cooney, chemical engineering; Edward F. Crawley, aeronautics and astronautics; Michael L. Dertouzos, director of the Laboratory for Computer Science; Rudiger W. Dornbusch, economics; J.
