A trailer containing an MIT machine for the remediation of hazardous wastes is scheduled to leave MIT next week for the DOE Hanford Reservation in Washington state. At Hanford, Plasma Fusion Center scientists and colleagues will use the unit in field tests to clean up organic solvents that contaminate the soil. In this photo, Daniel Cohn, director of the PFC program on waste remediation, and Richard Patrick, a PFC research engineer in charge of this particular project, stand inside the trailer with the machine, otherwise known as the Electron-Beam Plasma System. The photo was taken at the E-Beam's sendoff party last week.
