The 1993 recipient of the computing in chemical engineering award is Dr. George Stephanopoulos, the A.D. Little Professor of Chemical Engineering, who was cited for his expertise in process systems engineering, process operations and control and product design. The award, consisting of a plaque and an honorarium, was presented by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.
Dr. John Hildebidle, associate professor of literature, has been awarded a Fulbright Fellowship for the 1994-95 academic year. The grant will support a year in Galway, Ireland, where he will be attached to University College, Galway, and will pursue a study of the Field Day Theatre Company of Ireland. Professor Hildebidle, a published poet, short-story writer and author of books on Henry David Thoreau and 20th century Irish fiction, will spend the year in Ireland with his family.
An important contribution to understanding the role of atmospheric gases in the context of global change studies has won for Dana Hartley the 1993 Rossby Award of the Center for Meteorology and Physical Oceanography. The award recognizes the most outstanding doctoral thesis each year. Dr. Hartley is now an assistant professor of atmospheric sciences at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
