MIT today issued this statement on the Boston Licensing Board sanctions imposed against the MIT fraternity, Beta Theta Pi, located at 119 Bay State Road, where Boston University police were assaulted with beer cans and bottles on July 17.
Rosalind Williams, dean of students and undergraduate education, said, "The Boston Licensing Board decision is constructive and consistent with the actions we have already taken. As I said at the hearing yesterday, MIT is outraged that police officers were assaulted. We remain committed to identifying the person or persons responsible for this reprehensible attack and bringing them to justice. We will cooperate with any and all parties working toward that goal.
"We have already initiated contact with Boston University officials and look forward to an ongoing and positive relationship. We want to be good neighbors and expect our students to be as well."
