Campus flu clinics scheduled

MIT Medical has scheduled several flu vaccination clinics this fall, with the first occurring on Sept. 28.

The 2010-2011 flu vaccine is a single shot that will protect against three different flu viruses: an H3N2 virus, an influenza B virus, and the H1N1 virus that caused so much illness last season. Even if you got the H1N1 and/or seasonal flu vaccination last year, you should still get the 2010 flu vaccine.

Walk-in vaccination clinics (no appointment necessary) will be the most convenient way for most members of the MIT community to get flu shots. Each clinic will target a specific group, including children and families, employees, and students. Flu shots at MIT are free, but bring your MIT ID card or insurance card with you. A full schedule of campus clinics is available on MIT’s Flu Central webpage.

Flu shots will also be available at MIT Medical by appointment during specified days and hours this fall; call 617-253-4865 or your primary care provider.

MIT Medical expects to have enough vaccine for all MIT employees and students and MIT Health Plan members, including enrolled dependents. Employee dependents who are not Health Plan members, contractors and affiliates are not eligible.
