Undergrad award for foreign study offered

The foreign languages and literatures section (FLL) is offering a $1,000 award for international travel and lodging to an undergraduate "who best reflects the section's goals for achievement of proficiency in a foreign language, cultural understanding and enthusiasm in foreign language learning."

The application deadline is Friday, Feb. 22. The winner will be announced on March 8. The $1,000 stipend must be used in a country whose language the winner has studied at MIT. After returning, the student must submit a report that will be displayed on the FLL web site. The award must be used before Feb. 1, 2003.

Applications are available in the FLL office in Room 14N-305 or by e-mailing lilik@mit.edu.
