The Teaching with Technology website has recently been enhanced with the launch of a Video Services Portal. With video resources and services widely dispersed across various MIT offices, the portal serves a critical need by gathering information for faculty and students under one digital umbrella.
Designed to accommodate the enquiries of fledgling videographers as well as the needs of experienced practitioners, the portal provides easy access to common guidelines, standards and training. It also identifies currently available technology and service options regarding the capture, editing, encoding, delivery and archiving of video. Various levels of services are presented, with specifications as to which are free, which are fee-based and which are do-it-yourself options for those with little or no budget.
For an introduction to video services and resources at MIT, the portal is a useful place to begin. It provides a thorough overview of the production process and offers quick links to relevant sites covering accessibility concerns, copyright, output standards and more.
Built by the ACCORD-sponsored Video Services Portal Implementation Team the site represents the consolidated work of Molly Ruggles (OEIT), Kate James (OCW), Ranjani Saigal (IS&T), Kris Brewer (TechTV), Elaine Mello (AMPS) and Peter Bedrosian (Registrar).
