Here is a collection of photos that illustrates MIT's relationship with NASA.

In the top photo, Apollo 15 Commander David R. Scott salutes the US flag on the moon's surface in July 1971. Apollo 15 was the fourth lunar landing mission and the first space flight commanded by an MIT alumnus.

In the second photo, Charles Duke explores the moon's surface during the Apollo 16 mission in April 1972.

In the next photo, Buzz Aldrin, the Apollo 11 lunar module pilot, stands next to the US flag during the first exploration of the lunar surface on July 20, 1969.

Finally, Edgar D. Mitchell, Apollo 14 lunar module pilot, walks across the moon's surface as he looks over a traverse map during the Apollo 14 mission in February 1971.
