On Saturday, April 23, MIT will continue its celebration of the 100th anniversary of its move from Boston to Cambridge by opening its doors to the community for Under the Dome: Come Explore MIT, a campus-wide open house for all ages. The free event, which will last from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., will allow visitors an up-close and personal look at some of the exciting work that takes place at MIT every day.

Each of MIT’s five schools, as well as departments like athletics and admissions, will contribute to over 350 activities available across campus, which are all open to the public without registration. From autonomous robot demonstrations and tours of the Institute for Soldier Nanotechnology, to an entrepreneurship showcase and the chance to build paper airplanes with aerospace engineers, the day will provide a unique glimpse into the breadth of work taking place at the Institute.

Under the Dome is part of MIT2016: Celebrating a Century in Cambridge, a program commemorating MIT’s 100 years in Cambridge, which runs through June 4. Additional centennial events include Moving Day at MIT on Saturday, May 7, which will commemorate the move from Boston with an innovative parade over land and water. The Crossing the Charles procession and competition will feature inventive boats, floats, and other contraptions designed and built by MIT students, faculty, and researchers.
