The MIT Sociotechnical Systems Research Center invites you to its next spring seminar in the "Conversations on Sociotechnical Systems" series on Wed., March 19, from 4:15-5:30 p.m. in E38-615. Light refreshments will be served.

U.S. healthcare is an anomalous sector. Although most services and products steadily increase in variety, functionality, reliability, availability, and affordability, healthcare is stuck in an unnecessary cycle of ever tightening constraints and tradeoffs that cause enormous social friction. This seminar will explore examples of transformation and illustrate a general theory for managing complex, dynamic, sociotechnical systems for exceptional performance.

Steven Spear, a senior lecturer in the MIT Sloan School of Management and Engineering Systems Division and a senior fellow in the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, will present "Discovering Our Way to Greatness: Better Healthcare for More People for More Affordably."
