Memorial Service for MIT Police Officer Sean Collier
This Wednesday, April 24 at Noon at MIT Briggs Field
Service only open to law enforcement and MIT community with MIT IDs
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — MIT and law enforcement agencies will host a memorial service for slain MIT Police Officer Sean Collier this Wednesday, April 24 at 12 noon at Briggs Field. Thousands of law enforcement agents plan to attend from across the country. U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, MIT President L. Rafael Reif, MIT Police Chief John DiFava and a family member will speak. Only law enforcement and members of the MIT community with MIT IDs may attend.

Logistics for Media
MIT Briggs Field
TV satellite trucks must be in place on Memorial Drive (riverside) by 4:00 a.m. as directed by the State Police. Vehicles must display proper identification. Access Memorial Drive from Massachusetts Avenue Bridge.
Limited general press parking will also be on Memorial Drive with dashboard identification and media credentials.
Media pre-set for TV cameras and heavy equipment: 4:00 – 5:00 a.m.
(Equipment must be dropped by 5 a.m.)
Security sweep: 5:00 a.m. – 5:30 a.m.
Media access to press area: 5:30 a.m., but press should arrive no later than 10 a.m.
Media should enter by New House (W70) on Amherst Alley side of Briggs Field.
Video of memorial will be pooled with limited additional riser space.
All equipment, laptops and bags will be subject to a security search.
Wireless Internet, power and a multi box will be available.
Press planning to attend should RSVP to http://www.regonline/memorialservice. You will receive a confirmation that your RSVP has been received, but please note that your RSVP does NOT guarantee access inside the press area due to space limitations. You will receive a separate email confirming your attendance or regretting that we cannot accommodate it.
Press area is limited to 100 members of the media on field and separate viewing areas will be set up for overflow nearby. Video of memorial service will be pooled. There will be a tight still photography pool, space to be determined. Media credentials required.

Security Notice for Attendees
Those attending should expect to go through security. Access begins at 10 a.m. Only law enforcement and members of the MIT community with MIT IDs may attend.
Please note that signs and posters are not allowed. Bags and umbrellas are discouraged to facilitate security process. Members of the MIT community planning to attend will be asked to show their IDs.
