Letter to the community about upcoming MIT150 events: Convocation and the Open House

To the members of the MIT community:

I hope you will mark your calendars now for two landmark events in our ongoing celebration of MIT's 150th anniversary:

Next Century Convocation
Sunday, April 10
2 p.m., Boston Convention and Exhibition Center

Featuring distinguished speakers and a musical program composed and performed by MIT musicians, this all-community academic event will honor the creative achievements, enduring values and ethic of service that have defined MIT since its founding and that inspire our focus on inventing the future today. Please watch your e-mail for an electronic invitation with a link to registration.

Under the Dome: Come Explore MIT
Saturday, April 30
11 a.m.-4 p.m., many sites on MIT's main campus

Please plan to bring your family and friends to this historic, campus-wide Open House — the first at MIT in more than 30 years, and a rare chance to explore intriguing aspects of MIT that you may not usually encounter. Through tours, demonstrations, hands-on activities, exhibitions, lectures and performances, the day will showcase exciting new developments in robotics, energy, sustainability, science, engineering, technology, entrepreneurship, the arts, student life and beyond. The Open House will feature activities for all ages. Information on the specific activities, times and locations will be available in mid-March.

I look forward to seeing many of you at these two important events.

Sincerely,
Susan Hockfield
