Economics and Finance: From Theory to Practice to Policy

This two-day symposium — part of the MIT150 celebration — features six panels comprising Nobel laureates, policy makers and academic and industry experts. While concurrently celebrating MIT’s role in advancing knowledge, professional practice, and public policy in the areas of economics and finance, the symposium will address three broad questions:
  • What are the key recent scientific developments and the major unresolved issues of economics and finance?
  • What are the central challenges in economic policy?
  • How can one assess the contributions and limitations of recent advances in financial economics?
The program will begin on the morning of Thursday, Jan. 27, and conclude on Friday, Jan. 28. On both days, morning registration will begin at 7:45 a.m. and the program will begin at 8:45 a.m. Registration and ll sessions will be held in Kresge Auditorium.
