Partner vendors offer cellphone discounts to MIT community members

Looking for a break on your cellphone bill? Four vendors — AT&T, Sprint Nextel, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless — offer discount pricing on cellphone service plans, equipment and accessories to members of the MIT community. Special rates are available for departmental and affiliate purchases, as well as for employee and student personal purchases. The discounts apply to both existing and new cellphone service plans.

For an overview, go to the Cellular Telephones webpage. From this page, you can compare discounts for services across vendors, for Institute or personal use, by selecting the discount page link (certificates required).

If you have questions about the cellphone plans, contact the account executives listed on the individual vendor pages.

Donating used cell phones
If you’re upgrading to a new phone, why not donate your old one to a good cause? MIT Community Giving, Sprint Project Connect and the Verizon Wireless National HopeLine all give used phones to people in need or direct proceeds from recycling older phones to charitable organizations.

Another option is to see if you qualify for a cellphone buyback/refund program from your cellphone vendor.

For details on donations or refunds, go to the Disposal of Cellular Telephones page.
