Legatum Center accepting fellowship applications

The Legatum Center for Development and Entrepreneurship is pleased to announce that it is now accepting applications for its 2010-2011 Legatum Fellowship. Deadline for application is Feb. 10, 2010. The program is open to incoming and current MIT graduate students, across all academic disciplines, who demonstrate the potential to create innovative, sustainable, for-profit enterprises that promote prosperity in low-income countries. Over the course of the fellowship year, the Legatum Center at MIT provides financial assistance, business plan coaching, specialized seminars, and opportunities for fellows to engage with leading entrepreneurs, investors, and innovators. The current class of 16 Legatum Fellows hail from across the globe and bring with them a diverse range of experience and business ideas. Arjun Nair, for example, a Legatum Fellow from India, is capitalizing on the unmet need for a public health information system in India to close the gap in the disparity of medical services available across classes. From France, Legatum Fellow Caroline Brun is focusing on developing a clean-technology photovoltaic installation business in North Africa.
