Jan. 5 update on status of One Broadway: Environmental status

Please note: To access communications after Jan. 11, 2007, as well as full archives, please refer to the MITIMCO web site for One Broadway.

The memo below, the latest update on One Broadway, was sent Jan. 5 from Steven C. Marsh, managing director of real estate for the MIT Investment Management Company (MITIMCO), and Michael K. Owu, director of real estate for MITIMCO, to tenants and employees in One Broadway.

As you know, the environmental consulting firm EH&E has been conducting extensive testing and data analysis to determine the environmental conditions at One Broadway following the fire on Dec. 8. While we have been providing you with updates over the past few weeks, we are eager to share a more complete picture, and so today are distributing the final, comprehensive report of their findings.

In this report, EH&E concludes the building is safe for re-occupancy based on postcleaning sample results and inspections. While we know that you will be as pleased as we are with the conclusions of this report, we would like to provide you with access to all the information upon which those findings are based. That is why we are providing you with the complete report, as well as the data tables and appendices (PDF).

In addition to this report, EH&E is completing a health risk characterization of the fire event that will be provided to you along with the associated data as soon as it is complete.

We continue to hope to re-open the building to all tenants sometime next week and will notify you once we have received all necessary approvals from the city authorities to reoccupy One Broadway.
