Jan. 3 update on status of One Broadway: Rent abatement

Please note: To access communications after Jan. 11, 2007, as well as full archives, please refer to the MITIMCO web site for One Broadway.

The memo below, the latest update on One Broadway, was sent Jan. 3 from Steven C. Marsh, managing director of real estate for the MIT Investment Management Company (MITIMCO), and Michael K. Owu, director of real estate for MITIMCO, to tenants and employees in One Broadway.

Recognizing the inconvenience you have experienced as a result of the fire and resulting temporary closure of One Broadway, MIT will be providing full rent abatement for the period between December 8, 2006 and the day the building will be available for your occupancy. As some of you are aware, some of the original tenants with MIT have sublet their space to third parties. We would hope and expect that the benefit of this rent abatement would be passed on to the actual occupants of that space.

As we have said, we hope to re-open the building to all tenants sometime next week. We will notify you once we have received all necessary approvals from the city authorities to re-occupy One Broadway.

Again, thank you for your patience in this matter.
