Support staff views on new president sought

Support staff are invited to offer their views about the search for the next president of MIT at a meeting on Thursday, April 1 from noon to 12:55 p.m. in Room 10-250. The Working Group on Support Staff Issues was invited to convene the meeting by the two presidential search committees.

The featured panel will consist of James Champy, chair of the Corporation Search Committee; Jerome Friedman, chair of the Faculty Search Committee; and Kirk Kolenbrander, special assistant to the president and chancellor. Barbara Smith, senior co-convener of the Working Group, will facilitate the meeting.

Before the meeting, attendees should consider the following questions: What challenges are facing MIT in this decade? What qualities, attributes and experiences should the next president bring to this position to meet these challenges? Do you have any suggestions for candidates and who would be your choice?

Those who cannot attend the meeting may respond via the web site at http://web.mit.edu/president/search/process.html. These messages will go to Kolenbrander, who will convey them to the committees.
