On Saturday, Feb. 28, the body of a young man was recovered from the Charles River. The description is consistent with that of missing MIT junior Daniel Mun. On learning the news, President Charles M. Vest issued the following statement:

"The horrible uncertainty that we have all felt regarding Daniel Mun has ended with the outcome we most feared. I join his family and friends in mourning the loss of this fine young man.

"Our Medical Department staff and Dean's Office counselors are continuing to help and support his fraternity brothers, classmates and friends, and other members of our community, as they have through the long days since Dec. 5, when Mun was reported missing. I encourage any among us who feel the need for advice and comfort to contact MIT Medical, or talk with counseling deans or housemasters.

"We must stand together and support each other, even as we join in grieving for Daniel."
