David Rush

Borah High School,

Boise, Idaho

David Rush is described as a "math genius" by Borah High School calculus instructor Becky Brown. She told the Idaho Statesman that she is "in awe of" the way he visualizes math problems and senses the answers. "I have taught him nothing," she said.

Rush, a juggler and a soccer player with a penchant for bowties, does extensive community service work. Winner of a $55,000 Micron Science and Technology scholarship, he plans to study electrical engineering. When he visited MIT, Rush felt an instant kinship with the students. "They seemed to be a group of crazy, well-rounded nerds," he said.
