Construction Update

Building E19

The McGovern Institute for Brain Research (MIBR) space on the third floor is substantially complete. Construction on the fifth-floor laboratory space is scheduled for completion in April.

Building 12

Work is underway near Buildings 12, 4 and 8 to repair a ruptured fire protection main. Traffic should not be affected, but pedestrian access to this area will be limited. The work will take about three weeks. Some jackhammering may occur.

Simmons Hall

The kitchen and dining rooms are in full dinner operation. The atrium window work is complete. Work on the parking lot is underway.

Stata Center

A shroud will be placed over the Building 56 air intake to reduce exhaust fumes introduced into the intake from the Stata Center site.

Chemistry building

Repair work on the east concrete facade is nearing completion. Installation of mechanical systems continues. Workers are planning the process of dismantling the construction staging area; most of the trailers will be removed later this spring.

Vassar Street utilities

• Installation of new drainage piping running from Massachusetts Avenue to the Johnson Athletics Center is in the final stages of completion.
• Pedestrians now walk behind Building 48 on a newly constructed temporary walkway for several months to allow Vassar Street work to continue.

Vassar streetscape

Work is now underway on the north side of the street. Traffic will continue to flow one-way westbound along the south side of the street. All major crosswalks and driveways are accessible; crosswalks will occasionally shift as work progresses.

Brain and cognitive sciences project

Building 45 will be demolished later this spring. The decorative butterflies will be transferred from the exterior of Building 45 to Building 44.

Building 7 entrance

Concrete for the ramp and steps will be installed soon.
