The Boston Trio - Heng-Jin Park Ellsworth on piano, Irina Muresanu on violin and Allison Eldredge on cello - will perform with Professor Marcus Thompson on viola on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 8 p.m. in Kresge Auditorium.

The program includes Haydn's "Trio in G Major, H.XV 25" and Bright Sheng's "Four Movements for Piano Trio." Thompson will join the trio for Brahms' "Piano Quartet in G minor, Opus 25."

"All three women are big, uninhibited, interactive players with first-rate chops, and their glam quotient is more than matched by experienced musicianship," wrote the Boston Globe's Richard Dyer last summer. Individually, the ensemble members are on the faculties of the New England Conservatory and MIT. Thompson has appeared as soloist, recitalist and in chamber music series all over the world. He has served on the MIT faculty for 25 years and is the Robert R. Taylor Professor of Music and a Margaret MacVicar Faculty Fellow.
