Campus construction update

BUILDING W31

Workers are rebuilding the parapets or "battlements" on the Vassar Street and Massachusetts Avenue sides of the building (which houses the Campus Police Department), as well as performing general repointing and reroofing. The parapet work should be done by end of February and reroofing complete by mid-April; repointing will be ongoing throughout spring.

VASSAR STREET UTILITIES

Access to the main lot under Building 39 will be restricted from mid-January through mid-February. No left turn will be allowed into the lot when traveling westbound on Vassar Street, and exiting will be permitted to the right only.

MEMORIAL DRIVE

Paving for the crosswalks is complete. Work continues on installing the new traffic signals.

STATA CENTER

Work continues on above-grade structure sections and a raised garden area.

CHEMISTRY BUILDING

Loading-dock access may be restricted to allow work on a storage area. Areas south and west of the building may also be fenced off.

MEDIA LAB EXPANSION

Pre-construction work continues. A new walkway on Ames Street has been built for pedestrian safety.

SPORTS & FITNESS CENTER

Roof work, dry wall framing, rough plumbing and fireproofing continue, with special precautions regarding noise generation.

SIMMONS HALL

Ongoing excavation of the west end of Vassar Street for utility installation may affect traffic flow.

See the Evolving Campus web site for more information on construction projects.
